HEART CELLS FOUNDATION
13th - 15th OCTOBER 2016
GALLERY DIFFERENT, 14 PERCY STREET, LONDON W1T 1DR
ILLUSTRATED FAMILY DOCTOR – LAURA BEAUMONT
Book sculpture 24x17x5cm
In this piece I wanted to explore the notion that although the heart is usually associated with joy, love and passion - it is also where we hold our negative emotions. It’s where we feel loneliness, shame, regret, disappointment and fear. It bleeds. It falls. It breaks.
Each character at the wedding has dark secrets, but the regenerative nature of the heart will insure that they will continue to love, feel joy and survive.
These feelings are common to all humans. This one single organ that sustains us each individually, allows us to share these experiences universally.
BLEED BETWEEN THE LINES - 3
SOLO SHOW

BURGH HOUSE & HAMPSTEAD MUSEUM
New End Square, London NW3 1LT
THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SHAKESPEARE - 3
Book sculpture 24x17x5 cm
This piece is based on the Infinite Monkey Theorem which states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as The Complete Works of William Shakespeare.
I believe this to be true.

THE CHILDREN'S LIFE OF CHRIST
When I was a child I used to read stories about Noddy, Rupert the Bear and the Famous Five. Children who would go off on adventures, exploring unknown lands, facing danger and thwarting whatever baddies stood in their way. But at the end of the day, when all the adventuring was over - they would be back in time for tea, safe in the warmth and comfort of their home and family.
The loss of innocence is often seen as an integral part of coming of age, an experience or period within a child’s life that widens their awareness of evil, pain or suffering in the world around them. But for many children this comes too soon. For them, there is no tea. There is no home. There is no family. There is no childhood. Facing danger isn’t just part of a story they read – it’s their everyday reality.
